Lucapa Diamond Company has recovered a 128-carat white diamond from its Lulo alluvial mine in Angola, the company said Tuesday.
The type IIa stone, which it found at the deposit’s Mining Block 6 region, is the miner’s 12th over 100 carats to date. Lucapa also recently unearthed a 7.5-carat, fancy-purple-pink diamond in the same portion of the mine, it said.
The company will likely sell the stones at its next international tender, its second under Angola’s new diamond-trading regulations, which open sales to a larger number of buyers. At the same tender, Lucapa will also sell a 75-carat white diamond it recovered in the fourth quarter of 2018.
