The Diamond Producers Association (DPA) named Deborah Marquardt as chief marketing officer prior to the launch of its inaugural campaign this fall.

Marquardt was most recently vice-president and general manager of Time Inc.’s Style Network, where she led the publisher’s digital product businesses. Prior to that, she served as a senior marketing and communications executive at L’Oreal USA.

Marquardt will lead the DPA’s activities in the U.S. and report to Jean-Marc Lieberherr, its chief executive officer. The role was previously filled by managing director of marketing Sally Morrison, who left the DPA in May. Michael Pace, former head of global marketing at the World Gold Council, took over in the interim.

The addition of Deborah strengthens our leadership team at a pivotal time for the DPA,” Lieberherr said. “Her deep expertise in integrated, content-driven programs aimed at millennials, as well as cross-platform and social media, are critical to spearheading the launch of ‘Real is Rare,’ the DPA’s new category marketing platform.”

The DPA was set up last year by an alliance of mining companies, including ALROSA, De Beers, Rio Tinto, Dominion Diamond Corporation, Lucara Diamond Corporation, Petra Diamonds and Gem Diamonds. Its inaugural campaign will focus on digital and social media.
