Diamonds Do Good, formerly known as the Diamond Empowerment Fund, announced Friday that it will partner with JCK for the first annual Diamonds Do Good Jewelry Awards. The contest, open to manufacturers and/or retailers of fine jewelry featuring precious metals and/or natural diamonds and gemstones, will honor members of the industry who have made charitable giving a successful, sustainable part of their business.
Philanthropic efforts are not only beneficial on a social scale, but for businesses, they’re also a smart move for sales—recent research from the Edelman Good Purpose study shows that 75% of millennials want brands they do business with to have a social purpose, and 80% want those businesses to tell them about it. A separate study from the Diamond Producers Association found that 78% of customers would be more likely to buy natural diamonds if they were aware of the positive impacts they had on the industry.
