Russian diamond miner Alrosa has appointed Pavel Vinikhin as director of Diamonds Alrosa, the group’s cutting and polishing division.
Vinikhin, who has been managing the enterprise since October 2016 when he became acting director, is responsible for the development and modernization of manufacturing facilities, and implementing a new marketing strategy aimed at increasing sales and profitability.
Alrosa’s cutting and polishing complex comprises two divisions: Diamonds Alrosa in Moscow and Alrosa Diamonds in Barnaul.
Diamonds Alrosa, one of the largest diamond manufacturers in Russia, works with large rough diamonds over 1.8 carats, including special sizes and those with unique color specifications. The division manufactures and sells polished diamonds, which are mostly sold by wholesale lots at monthly trading sessions, both for export and in the domestic market.
Alrosa’s polished sales amounted to $54.9 million in the first half of 2017, while the company sold $2.4 billion worth of rough during the period.
