The London Diamond Bourse (LDB) has debuted a digital community to help connect trade members, allowing them to network, share knowledge and gain support.
LDB president David Troostwyk originally created the platform, CiviGem, as a tool for the exchange after seeing a need for a centralized digital community to strengthen industry ties. The bourse is now opening it up to the global diamond and jewelry community in the hope that it will improve how the trade operates, it said Monday.
“As someone who has spent years working across different facets of the trade — from mining to manufacturing to retail — I’ve seen firsthand how disconnected the industry can be,” said Troostwyk. “CiviGem is about breaking down those barriers, making us all stronger, louder, and more impactful as a united community.”
The platform contains a global industry directory, which users can organize by location, expertise, company type and trade association. It also allows them to message contacts directly and participate in community forums and group discussions in real time. Users can gain access to a library of information on natural diamonds, industry trends and best practices, as well as share and procure industry information. Additionally, CiviGem has a dedicated mentorship space to provide support to newcomers in the trade.
“Success in this industry has always been about connections — who you know, what you learn, and how you adapt,” stated Troostwyk. “CiviGem brings that to the digital age, ensuring that no matter where you are in the world, you’re never more than a click away from the right people and the right opportunities.”
