It is the most expensive fancy intense blue diamond ever sold at auction. The 24.18 ct. Cullinan Dream sold for $25.4 million at the Christie’s June 9 auction in New York.
The diamond was cut from the 122.52 ct. rough diamond uncovered by Petra Diamonds in June 2014. The diamond was named after the mine where it was discovered, the Cullinan Mine in South Africa.
Christie’s estimated the diamond to sell for $23 million–$29 million.
